How it works

From order to a live website

  1. 1

    Choose a package

Code only, We set it up, or Customised. All prices are one-time.

  2. 2

    Pay securely

Your download link is emailed once payment is confirmed and also appears in My Account.

  3. 3

    We contact you

For setup packages we email within one business day for your cPanel / hosting login and domain.

  4. 4

    Live on your domain

Your store runs on your own Node.js hosting, with orders in your admin panel and in your inbox.

Your own store, not a monthly subscription

Northfield is the source code of a complete online store. You install it on your own hosting, keep your customers and data, and pay no platform fee per month or per sale. Everything a store needs is in the box: a catalogue with variants, a cart, coupons, checkout, customer accounts, order management, invoices and an admin panel for every setting.

  • Nested categories and products with up to three options
  • Guest checkout or customer accounts with order history
  • Order statuses with emails to the customer and to you
  • Printable invoices and CSV export of orders

Sell in many countries and currencies

Set a base currency and enable as many others as you need, each with its own rate, symbol, decimals and symbol position. Visitors pick a currency in the header and the choice is remembered. Each order records the currency and the exchange rate used. Shipping zones offer flat rates, free shipping over an amount, weight- or price-based tables and local pickup, and taxes can be set per country or per state or region, with prices including or excluding tax.

  • Currency switcher with per-currency formatting
  • Shipping zones and four method types
  • Tax per country or region, inclusive or exclusive
  • Address form that works for any country

You choose how customers pay

Cash on delivery, bank transfer (with your account details), UPI with an automatic QR code for the exact amount, and pay on pickup are built in. Switch each on or off and set their order. Card and wallet gateways are separate add-ons: Stripe Checkout, Razorpay and PayPal, each verifying the gateway's signature before an order is marked paid.

  • COD, bank transfer, UPI QR, pay on pickup
  • Enable, rename and reorder payment methods
  • Stripe, Razorpay and PayPal as add-ons
  • Prices and totals always recalculated on the server

Ready for a mobile app

A versioned REST API (/api/v1) serves the catalogue, product variants, a cart quote with shipping, tax, coupon and currency, checkout, customer sign-up and sign-in with bearer tokens, order history and the contact form. It is documented endpoint by endpoint in API.md, so a React Native, Flutter or native app can be built on top of the same store and database.

  • Products, categories and currencies
  • Cart quote and checkout
  • Customer accounts with tokens
  • Order history and admin order updates

The admin panel, screen by screen

The first time you open /admin, a setup wizard asks for your admin login and your base currency. After that the dashboard shows orders today, revenue, a 14-day chart and the products running low. Each order has its own screen: move it from pending to paid, processing, shipped and delivered (or cancelled or refunded, which puts the stock back), add a tracking number and link, keep private notes, see the full history and print the invoice. Customers, coupons, currencies, shipping zones, taxes, payment methods and your own content pages each have a screen of their own. Contact-form messages land in an enquiries inbox, and every email the store sends is kept in an email log, so before SMTP is set up you can still read what would have gone out.

  • Products, categories, orders and customers
  • Coupons, currencies, shipping, taxes and payments
  • Pages editor, enquiries inbox and email log
  • Add-ons and licence screens

What is in the zip and how it was tested

You get the complete source, not a compiled build: server.js, the Express routes for the storefront, admin and API, the EJS templates, CSS and JavaScript, the Prisma schema and a seed script with demo products, plus README.md, API.md (every REST endpoint) and ADDONS.md (how to write your own add-on with hooks, settings and actions). npm run setup creates the .env file, the tables and the demo shop; --no-seed gives an empty store and --reseed reloads the demo. The test folder holds unit tests for currency, prices, shipping costs, licensing and CSV escaping, a Playwright script that runs a full order from the setup wizard to the invoice, and a curl smoke test for the REST API.

  • Full source with README, API.md and ADDONS.md
  • One setup command with demo or empty store
  • Unit, browser and API smoke tests included
  • Illustrated installation guide (PDF)

What it does not do

Online card payments need one of the gateway add-ons and your own gateway account. There is no marketplace (multi-vendor) mode, and reviews are not part of the core store. The demo products, photos and business details are placeholders for you to replace, and the demo contains no reviews, ratings or sales numbers. We tested the store on SQLite; MySQL and PostgreSQL are supported through Prisma.

  • Gateways are add-ons, sold separately
  • Single store, not multi-vendor
  • Demo content is placeholder, no fake reviews
