Forgeline — BigCommerce Electronics Theme

A BigCommerce electronics theme built for big catalogues

Tech shoppers compare specs, prices and brands before they buy. Forgeline gives them a fast path: a dark, product-first header with a wide search bar, a mega menu built from your category tree, image tiles for every top-level category and clean white product cards where the product photo always fits. Brand names, sale prices with the saving, stock and quick add sit right on the card.

Product pages that answer the spec questions

Add custom fields such as Display, Battery or Ports and Forgeline lays them out in a clean specifications table. Bulk pricing rules appear as a 'buy more, save more' table, which matters to business buyers. Options (rectangles, swatches, dropdowns, text, date and file) update the price, SKU and stock live through BigCommerce's own endpoint, and a sticky add-to-cart bar follows the shopper down the page.

Compare, filter and find

Shoppers can tick Compare on up to four products and open a side-by-side table with price, brand, availability and summary. Category, brand and search pages use BigCommerce Product Filtering in a sticky sidebar, with sorting and pagination, and the header search shows instant results as you type.

Deals and B2B built in

Mark products as featured and the first one becomes the deal of the week, with a countdown to the end date you set in the theme editor. A business banner invites quote requests for team and office orders, and bulk pricing tables do the rest. Add to cart happens without leaving the page, and the cart shows how much more unlocks free delivery.

Clean code you can own

Forgeline is plain Stencil: Handlebars templates, SCSS compiled by BigCommerce and one JavaScript file, with no jQuery, webpack or build step, so it is easy to edit with the Stencil CLI. Colours, fonts, corner radius, homepage rows and trust messages are all theme-editor settings, and the account, checkout, gift card, blog and error pages are styled to match.

Every template, explained

Forgeline includes 49 page templates, so every page BigCommerce can show is styled. Shoppers see the home page, category, brand and brands list, product, search with instant results, compare, cart, blog and blog post, CMS page, contact form, sitemap and gift card pages (buy, check balance, redeem). Customers get sign in, create account, forgotten and new password, and an account area with orders, order details, a printable invoice, addresses, messages, returns, wishlists, recently viewed items, downloads and saved payment methods. Error, maintenance, unavailable and closed-store pages are included, as is a styled header for BigCommerce's Optimized One-Page Checkout.

Theme settings and colour variations

The theme editor has 43 settings. Colours: page background, cards, text, secondary text, borders, primary button, text on primary, header background, header text, sale badge and in-stock colour. Typography: body font (Inter, Roboto or Manrope), heading font (Space Grotesk, Inter or Barlow) and corner radius. Home page: hero badge, heading, text, button and image, or your own carousel slides; deal of the week on or off with its heading and end date; how many featured, new and best-seller products to show; brand strip on or off; and four trust messages. Products: compare, quick add, bulk pricing table, reviews tab, stock level, products per category, brand and search page, and the free-delivery threshold. Footer: copyright and Powered by BigCommerce. Graphite, Volt and Workshop are saved variations of these settings.

Install, requirements and what's in the download

You need a BigCommerce store on any plan. The download contains Forgeline-1.0.0.zip, the theme bundle produced by BigCommerce's own Stencil CLI, plus an illustrated installation guide as a PDF, a README and the licence. In BigCommerce admin open Storefront, Themes, Upload Theme and choose the bundle; BigCommerce processes it in about a minute. Then pick a variation, apply it or open Customize, add images to your top-level categories, and turn on Product Filtering under Settings, Search if you want the filter sidebar.

Honest limits

Forgeline 1.0.0 is a new release. It passes BigCommerce's bundle and marketplace validation and every page type was rendered and tested in our demo store with BigCommerce's own template engine, but it does not yet have a track record on many live stores. It shows approved product reviews but does not include a write-a-review form. There is no quick-view pop-up, no product video gallery and no AMP pages. Changing quantities on the cart page saves through BigCommerce's Storefront Cart API and then reloads the page. The deal countdown uses the end date you type in the theme editor; it does not read sale dates from products. Storefront text ships in English only, in one language file you can edit or translate. Company accounts, quotes and other B2B Edition features need BigCommerce B2B Edition. The demo store's name, brands and photos are samples and are not included.
