What you say here stays here
Confidentiality is the heart of counselling. Here is exactly what it means, and its few limits.
What stays private
What you share is not passed to your family, employer, college or anyone else without your written consent.
When we may need to share
Only if we believe someone is at serious risk of harm, a child may be unsafe, or the law requires it. Where we can, we talk to you first.
Supervision
Counsellors discuss their work with a senior supervisor to keep standards high, without sharing your name or identifying details.
Session notes
Brief notes are kept securely by your counsellor and never on this website. Your booking request is kept only in the practice’s private, password-protected inbox.
Contacting you
We only call or message on the number you give us, and our messages never mention what your sessions are about.
Online sessions
Join from a private room, ideally with headphones. Sessions are never recorded, by us or by you, without both sides agreeing.
You stay in control.
- Ask what is written in your notes
- Ask for a different counsellor at any time
- Stop counselling whenever you choose
- Raise a concern with the centre's director
If you are in crisis, call Tele-MANAS 14416 or 112. Mann Counselling Centre offers planned sessions by appointment and is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
The information on this website is general and is not medical or psychological advice. Counselling is not a replacement for care from a doctor or psychiatrist.
