Safety

Pool rules & safety

Safety comes before everything else here. These rules apply to every swimmer, parent and visitor.

Lifeguard chair and rescue tube beside the pool
Supervision

Eyes on the water, always.

A trained lifeguard is on deck for the whole of every session, separate from the coaches teaching in the water.

  • Children are supervised by a coach at all times
  • Little Splash and beginner batches have a coach in the water
  • Parents of children under 12 stay on the premises
  • First-aid kit and rescue equipment at the poolside
Pool rules

Rules for every swimmer

Shower first

Shower before you enter the pool. It keeps the water clean for everyone.

Cap and swimwear

Swim cap and proper swimwear are compulsory. No cotton clothes or street wear in the water.

Walk, don't run

The poolside is wet. No running, pushing or diving in the shallow end.

Enter with your coach

Learners enter the pool only when their coach or the lifeguard says so.

Tell us about health

Tell the coach about asthma, epilepsy, ear problems or any other condition before the first session.

No food on deck

No food, glass or chewing gum near the pool. Water bottles are fine.

Feeling unwell?

Please skip your session if you have a fever, stomach upset, open wound or eye infection.

Viewing gallery

Parents watch from the gallery, not the poolside, so coaches can teach without distractions.

Photos

Photos and videos are not allowed in the pool area or changing rooms, to protect everyone's privacy.

Hygiene

Clean water, clean changing rooms.

Pool water is filtered continuously, and chlorine and pH are checked several times a day. The pool is cleaned every Monday, and changing rooms are cleaned between sessions.

  • Separate changing rooms for men and women
  • Lockers and hot showers
  • Water quality checked every day

If you or your child have a medical condition, please check with your doctor before starting swimming lessons, and tell your coach. In an emergency at the pool, our lifeguard and staff will call 112.
